Horse toys are a perfect little gift for any horse-loving child – and we have a fantastic selection! Our range includes models from the likes of Schleich, Mojo, Papo and lots more.
Horse toys have always held a magical place in every child's heart, making them a timeless favourite – who could forget the enchanting tale of Black Beauty that captivated us all as children?
Not only are horse toys fun to play with, but they also offer numerous benefits for your child's development, including learning about different horse breeds.
In this guide, we will showcase our favourite horse toy brands and share our top recommendations to help you in choosing the perfect horse toy for your child.
Schleich is one of our biggest ranges, our Horse Club aisle is bursting at the seams with all the different toy horse figures, stables and incredible accessories on offer.
We stock a wide range of items, including popular breeds like the Trakehner Stallion, Tinker Mare and Clydesdale Gelding.
We also offer a variety of accessories like the horse feed set, horse wash area, blankets and halters.
In addition, we recently added an exciting new line from Schleich called Sofia's Beauties, specially developed for slightly younger children. The horse toys in the Sofia's Beauties lineup all come with interchangeable brushable manes, adding even more fun to playtime for little ones!
All Schleich horse figures are made from PVC, hand-painted, and scaled to 1:24 (about one 24th the size of the actual horse). Collecting them is an excellent hobby to introduce children to.
Not only does it encourage their imagination, but it also nurtures a lifelong interest in these magnificent animals.
Schleich horse toys are recommended for children aged 5 to 12, with a minimum age requirement of three. If you're looking for something less detailed and more playful, the Schleich Horse Club Sofia's Beauties range is a great option for children aged four and older.
Known for their long-lasting quality, Schleich horse toys have an excellent reputation in the toy industry.
However, it's worth noting that certain accessories may have more delicate parts. Therefore, we do recommend supervising younger children while they play with them.
As we mentioned earlier, the Schleich 'Horse Club' range is packed with over 100 different toys to choose from!
It's a tough task to pick our favourites, but here goes.
Our favourite model has to be the Schleich Andalusian Stallion. This dream horse is full of personality, stepping out proudly with its handsome mane.
Its coat is primarily a grey-white colour with darker grey dappling near the hind legs, and, just like all Schleich horse toys, it is crafted in a 1:24 scale.
It's a true delight for any horse lover!
A close second is the classy Lipizzaner Mare, with her beautiful white coat.
This model has been meticulously crafted to accurately represent the breed's elegance and grace, making it a fantastic addition to any collection.
The Schleich Mustang Stallion had to make our list. We adore its windswept mane, and are amazed at how Schleich has managed to capture the true spirit of the breed in this model.
With its bold and untamed presence, the Schleich Mustang Stallion is a marvellous representation of this famous American breed.
Mojo horse toys are designed right here in the UK and expertly crafted in China and Portugal. They are scaled to fit perfectly with other leading brands such as Schleich and Papo, showcasing realistic features and colours.
Mojo has a great range of different horse breeds, including firm favourites such as the Shire Horse, White Rearing Mustangand the Black Hanoverian Foal.
They also offer a brilliant starter set, containing six different horses to kick-start any collection. While the accessory options are limited, the Mojo horse figures are compatible with accessories from both the Schleich and Papo ranges
Like Schleich, Mojo horse toys are made from PVC and are all hand-painted.
Among all the brands, we would say that Mojo offers the most value for money, which is not due to any compromise in quality but rather its status as a newer brand aiming to be competitive on price.
We recommend Mojo play horses for children aged 3 and above, as they are designed to be safe and perfect for young horse enthusiasts.
Younger children are more likely to engage in imaginative play with the horses, while older children will enjoy collecting the different horse breeds that Mojo offers.
Papo model horses are designed in France and, like Schleich and Mojo, they are perfectly scaled at 1:24.
They are exquisitely hand-painted, providing delightful role-playing experiences for children and making them desirable collectables for horse enthusiasts.
Papo offers an impressive variety of breeds, including the popular Shetland pony with saddle, Black Shire Horse and the Cob. Although their range may not be as extensive as Schleich's in terms of accessories, they do offer a fantastic selection of horse rider figurines, with the Winter Riding Girl being a firm favourite among fans.
Papo's range of horse toys and accessories has something for everyone.
Whether you're buying for a serious collector or simply looking for a fun and educational toy for a child, Papo's horse figures are sure to impress.
Papo has a great range of rider figures. Unlike Schleich, these figures are not posable and are already molded into a seated position.
Just like the Papo horses, these rider figures are scaled to 1:24 and can be easily mixed and matched with horse figures of the same scale from other brands.
Papo's top selling rider figures include the stylish Papo Trendy Riding Girl, the charming Papo Winter Riding Girl, and the adorable Papo Riding Child. These meticulously crafted figures capture the spirit of equestrian adventures and make for fantastic additions to any Papo horse toy collection.
Papo rider figures are not only sold individually but also come in playsets! Popular options include:
These sets have been thoughtfully put together, sparing you the worry and stress of matching the perfect rider to the perfect horse.
Papo horse toys are great for kids aged 3 years and up. Younger children will enjoy carrying them around and using their imagination for pretend play, while older kids will enjoy collecting all the different horse breeds that Papo has to offer.
Breyer has been perfecting the art of making model horses for decades. Within the four main collections that we stock, you'll find something to suit every interest and budget!

Yes, Schleich horses
are totally collectable! Each horse figure is highly detailed and hand-painted. People of all ages, from kids to adults, love collecting Schleich horses.
The collectability of a Schleich horse can depend on a couple of things. Some horse figures are quite rare or no longer in production, which makes them more sought after by collectors. Collectors enjoy showing off their Schleich horse collections in displays or cases.
Some even trade or sell them within collector communities. Just keep in mind that the value of collectables can change over time, and what's in high demand now can quickly change.
The Breyer Traditional horses are an excellent choice for ten-year-old because these sculpted horse models do not encourage curiosity about famous horses and different breeds, but also inspire their creative side.
Breyer
fans have an awesome community where they make their traditional horse models come alive through photography
Additionally, Breyer offers a range of book and horse sets, including classic horse stories like Black Beauty,
providing older children with an opportunity to learn about these timeless tales.
The Schleich Tinker Mare is our most popular selling horse at Farm Toys Online. It's no surprise she's so well-loved, with her beautiful piebald coat, magnificent mane, full tail, and lots of hair on the fetlocks.
Yes, you can use different brands of horse models with different brands of stables as long as they are constructed to the same scale.
For instance, you can mix Papo
or Mojo
horses with a Schleich stable
because they are all made to the 1:24 scale.
If you want to learn more about the different scales and how they work, you can check out this handy guide that explains it in detail: Toy Horse Scales Explained.
